EXPANSIONTURBINES

At a glance

The TurbX expansion turbine is used when natural gas is expanded from high pressure to 5 bar. The plant is designed for 5,000 Nm3/h and generates 150 kW of electrical power. The idea of using a turbine or motor instead of a pressure reducing valve to expand natural gas and generate electricity is neither new nor particularly innovative. However, TurbX AG now offers a technology from the company Innovatium, which represents a novelty: the necessary gas heating 5 is done with a heat pump concept and is therefore CO2-free. By eliminating the costs for heating, payback times are significantly reduced. The TurbX expansion turbine can be used in pressure reduction and measuring stations (DRM) of gas utilities.

Technical specification

Turbine state to the art

The expansion turbine of TurbX sets new standards and offers several advantages:

  • for natural gas DRM (pressure reducing and measuring) stations
  • Pressure reduction from 35 to 5 bar
  • Nominal volume 5'000 Nm3/h
  • generates 150 kW of electric current
  • without heating by fossil energy sources
  • CO2 neutral
  • in the pipeline: Expansion turbine for other sizes
